Relay for Life

Last year cancer impacted my family a lot. After already being devastated by my mom's diagnosis of colon cancer, we found out that my sister had leukemia and watched it take her life. I've already had to celebrate a birthday at a funeral for an uncle that lost the battle to cancer, as a newlywed celebrating my husband's birthday finding out his mom had cancer, getting to know a new brother-in-law by driving him to a cancer appointment, and being pregnant with my first child and knowing that my Grandma would not be able to meet her because yet again, cancer! My family has watched many loved ones fight cancer and now we are fighting back!

A couple months ago we put together a Relay for Life team where all of the money raised goes to the American Cancer Society.

We have already raised almost $2,000. We only have a little less than two more weeks to make it more.

So here is the deal:
If you go to the Relay for Life website and donate to our team I will submit your name in a jean quilt that my mom made. For every $5 you donate you get 6 entries.

(A double quilt with a flannel back and 2 matching pillowcases. Perfect for winter nights, camping, or if you are like me anytime)

you may purchase a luminaria. A $10 is suggested but any amount is okay.
Go to the Relay for Life and donate and then let me know if you want to have it in memory/honor of and/or what special message you want on it. The names and messages will be read during the relay.

Here is the website for donations:
Then contact me and let me know what you want your donations to go toward.

You can do this by leaving a message on the blog with a way to contact you and I will try to remove the comment promptly or you can email me at

Here's more:
If you can't donate at this time but know someone with cancer or is a survivor and want to put their name in a drawing for a free necklace let me know.

It is a sterling silver 20" necklace hand stamped the word HOPE and ribbon charm.

Drawings for the quilt and necklace will be on June 5th.

Some of May

Some of the highlights from May so far:

Seis de Mayo Party
Jaden had to work on the fifth but not the sixth so we had a seis de mayo party. (It had nothing to do with 1070). We had yummy Mexican food, pin the tail on the donkey and of course a piƱata.

The end of soccer
It was fun but nice to have it over.
Gila Valley Temple open house
It was a great day and good experience for the kids.

Great grandparent visits.
We got to stay at Grandpa and Grandma Payne's house and then we went to visit Grandma Rosser.

Play with Rosser cousins
We went to Hatch for Trevan's baby blessing. (I way slacked at taking pictures)

Kolby's sleepy hair cut
Ally helped me cut Kolby's hair and I guess it was soothing

That is it for now.
