So several times I have had to laugh at the music in the overhead speakers in the department stores. (My favorite was U2's I still haven't found what I've been looking for) But last week on the overhead was a commercial for none other than my show- Project Runway!! There was the reminder that it has changed networks.
Thank you overhead speaker!!
SO in Project Runway fashion, I decided to make a Sunday bag out of some old cargo pants that Paul gave me. I now have a bag that is the right size for scriptures, lesson book, a few treats, and not too much excess.
At first I was just going to sew the corduroy together to serve it's purpose but then I decided the bag needed to be lined. ANd if it has to be lined, it has to be cute fabric. If your going to get cute fabric, you might as well make it reversible. So -viola!!
ANd of course I kept the loop in the cargo bag- just in case I ever need to take a hammer to church.
Okay I really don't know if we are going to do this annually but it definitely was fun enough to do again next year!! The camping trip was full of fun, games, yummy food, homemade rootbeer, family, dirt, cozing sleeping, scripture chasing, hammock dropping, creek playing and all sorts of fun!! We went home dirty, tired, and happy!
Ahhhhh! Going back to Utah reminds me a little of my college days. I love Utah! Not to live, but for all the of the fun bike trails, hikes, rivers, lakes and now Jaden's family. When we found out that we were going to have a Hatch reunion I was so excited because everyone talked about the one at Fish lake (when I was on my mission). I was bummed to find out that not many of my family was going. I was so glad that Maren came to help me represent as part of my Grandma Payne's family.
So we got ready in our matchy, matchy shirts and were off to the Hatch Reunion.
Kayda was the best out of all of us to meet new relatives. She would talk to everyone and play with anybody that would play with her.
One of the activities was 'Family Feud'. They did it by families and since my Grandma, Maren and I were the only ones from our family. we weren't given the choice of not participating. (sorry it is a fuzzy picture, Jaden did the best he could with the assistant photographer-Kolby)
Maren came with us to find ice cream in town. Our initial thought was to find a Dairy Queen, but found this to be even better!!
I just had to take this picture because it struck me as funny: SORRY
My mom's cousin Phyllis. She is one of the best story tellers. (Malana has some competition)
This is a self-photo that cracks me up. Especially with the fly on his chin.
Jaden, Kayda, me, Kolby, and Maren on the canoe.
The real Kayda.
I convinced Maren to do the paddle boats with me. Kayda loved that she could help steer. I forgot how painstaking slow paddle boats are.
With Grandma Payne
So after the reunion we spent some time with Jaden's family. It was nice to have lots of willing baby holders and Kayda entertainers.
Lariah and Kolby with Kayda and her baby
Jaden's mom decided to throw Kolby a pre-birthday bash. Of course that meant a messy chocolate cake.
Kolby shoved the cake in his mouth and licked his fingers clean.
Kayda enjoyed it too.
On our trip we got to see some of our friends that moved to Utah. We didn't get to see everyone and everything that we would have like to, but we did make one stop that Jaden has been wanting to for a long time-Manti.
We had a great time but I am glad to be back in good 'ol AZ!
