The Big 3-0

Okay  I have to admit that I am a bit of a birthday snob.  I like my birthday to be about me.  With that said I have had some disappointing birthdays ( not anyone's fault but my own).  But I love the excuse of a birthday to not have to cook, change diapers, or anything that I don't feel like doing.  So this year was the big 30.  And Jaden knowing my attitude of birthdays, he asked me what I would like to do.  I said that I wanted it filled with my favorite things.  So that meant Family, Friends and Fun.  We decided to do a BBQ (I love them!) including beef, chicken and of course pineapple.  I was a bit of a slacker with taking pictures because I wanted to just enjoy the day but here goes:

The Cake:  My favorite, Banana Split Cake
SO my mom was kind enough to make my favorite that I have had many a time on my birthday. It was tradition in my family that you got to pick out what kind of cake you got on your birthday so for many, many of my birthdays we had Banana Split cake.  Also a family tradition, the one with the birthday got to take the first bite, so --"Well, Happy Birthday Celia!"

My Parents: The reason I even have a birthday
My friends Kristal and Cara- my friends for pretty much 30 years.
My mom enjoying the babies at the party: Kolby and Brooklyn
The weather cooperated perfectly.  It was such good weather so some of the kids could eat outside.  Claire, Kayda, and Emmett (representing his family)
Some of the kids playing with the last bit of snow.
We did try to start up some Dance, Dance Revolution.  It didn't quite get going.  Maybe next time we will just have a Dance, Dance Revolution competition (so practice up y'all)
The goods!  So I really don't care that much about presents (as long as I have one to open)  But this year I really scored.  I have already used all of my presents! (well I still waiting for the flowers to bloom and use the beef and pineapple, but they will get used!)  It is like everyone knew what I wanted and needed.
The After Party:
The after the after party:
Ally had planned to stay the night and come to church with us so we could keep on celebrating.  We convinced Kathy to stay too since she had late church.  So I got to party ALL day.
It was seriously a perfect birthday!! Thanks everybody!

Valentine's Day

I love holidays.  Any reason to party really.   Even though I never had a boyfriend on Valentine's Day until Jaden (which he was my fiance by then) I have had some memorable Valentines moments so here goes:

About 4th Grade I received a valentine card that  said:
To: Goliath     From: the person who calls you that
( Since I was the tallest kid in my class at church I had to play the part of Goliath)

About sixth grade I got a valentine that was personalized.  The card originally said,"Be Mine."  But the word "mine" was scratched out and was replaced by the word "mean".  So, yes, the card then read,"Be mean."

In high school one of the classes was selling balloons for a fundraiser.  During seminary I was delivered a bouquet of balloons.  For just a second I was almost afraid of who might of sent them but was pleasantly surprised when I found out that they were from my wonderful, loving dad.

My freshman year of college we had some fun FHE brothers.  On Valentine's Day they had brought us some flowers and a card for all of my roommates.  They tried to do it anonymously but their plan failed since I was visiting a friend in a dorm across the way and saw the whole knock and run happening.
When I finally had a boyfriend with whom to share Valentines Day, I had already planned and bought the plane ticket for a fun girls weekend in San Francisco. (sorry Jaden).  But luckily I have him so I can share all of the rest of my Valentines Days with him.

Okay so for this Valentine's Day I decided to invite Kayda's Claire, Chloe friends over to make cookies with us.  They had a lot of fun dumping in the ingredients, cutting the cookies out, frosting them and most of all eating them.  Maria had also brought over some beads to make valentine bracelets.  Hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day

Cutting out the cookies:

Jaden making the frosting:
The girls enjoyting the cookies: (I couldn't find a single picture without a cookie in Kayda's mouth.
Kolby wishing he could eat a cookie:

For JoTown people- Danny called me Goliath and the 'Be Mean' was from Robert.

So our first snowman melted the same day. BUT there was a second snowstorm that came in, so we had to make a woman.  She isn't as tall as our first one, but she is more spiffed up.

Once There was A snowman

Yes, we had to hurry and build a snowman before all the snow melted.  If it makes anyone feel better about us building it on Sunday, my lesson was supposed to be on "Finding Joy in your Life".  So we did.

Dear Lari,

I know that I promised to call you every time it snowed, but I knew that this time there was not even a slight chance of convincing you to drive up.  And did you really want a call at six in the morning when I saw all the white goodness covering the ground??
But next time I will have this sign hanging up for you.
P.S. And don't be jealous that we might be building a snowman for sunday school (church got cancelled) :)

Work It!

My friend, Beth, sent me an email about a contest about creating things inspired by nature.  Though this lovely outfit wasn't entered, I felt crafty for one day and made something that hopefully Kayda will enjoy.
Note: Kayda was the one that came up with the poses.

The After Party

So after finishing the yard sale, getting Bella spruced up, and getting necessary shopping done we headed to Joe's BBQ.  We were eating when the balloon girl came up and asked if we needed some sort of shaped balloon.  Just as I started saying 'no thanks', Kayda pipes in and says an excited, "Sure!"  How can I resist?  Well long story short- the first elephant  became half an elephant.
Ally was kind enough to provide Kayda with another elephant to help her be happy. (And the rest of us).
And since Kayda got an elephant she was kind enough to share her Barbie with Kolby.
share the love

Yard Sailin'

I love yard sales!! Here are some reasons:
1.  Late nights and early mornings bring out the crazy in people.
2. You can find some good stuff.  Like treasure-- pirate treasure even.

3. Making a little bit of money to get rid of extra junk in the house.
4.  The after party.  Like at Joe's BBQ.
