Every time I asked Kayda what she wanted to be for Halloween she would always say a monster. Then my sister, Maria, convinced her that she should be the three little pigs with her cousins.(so of course, since it was not me she quickly changed her mind about the monster idea). But then when someone would ask her what she was going to be she replied,"the two piggies." I tried to explain that it was the 3 pigs but to no avail she kept with her same response.
A couple times when she was getting ready to go to sleep I would tell her the story of the 3 pigs so she would be familiar with the story. One day she told me that Kolby needed to be the "baby bad wolf".(thus his costume) It was also funny to hear her say,"not my chinnies, chinnies, chinnies" when I had her try on the ears. And of course to make sure everyone knew at the trunk or treat what she was, she would say,"Trick-or-treat--- I a piggy!"

Kayda was having more fun passing out the candy than trick-or-treating.
Happy Halloween !!

First Stop: Fun

Last weekend we had to do some whirlwind shopping (tile, sinks, ceiling fans-you know the fun stuff). Before we got on to it we stopped at the Buddy Walk to say hi to Ally, Reese, and Cam. And enjoy the fun activities and free food.
Kayda was so excited about the pony ride ever since Ally said there was going to be one. It was probably the best 3 minutes of her life. The next day she asked,"I go to pony ride?"
Then we had to try out Reese and Cam's voluteering skills- Kayda got her face painted.
We also had to get a ride on the little train.
When we were trying to leave Kayda did not want to get out of the bouncers. Cam even went with her on one of them :)
And of course little Kolby was a good sport. The look of boredom-
And him making faces for Ally-
Thanks for the fun stop so we could survive the rest of the day!!

So far. . . . .

This week I have been thankful for..
Kayda wanting to buckle herself (but still can't unbuckle herself)
Funny subtitles that don't make sense
Actually waking up to my alarm clock
The surprise that Jaden's work schedule was different than I thought
Warmer weather than last week
One night of pure sleep by everybody!

Columbus Day Weekend

Since everyone else was on Fall Break I decided to create my own Fall Break. The Turleys were heading to my parents' house for Fall Break and my parents had Columbus Day off so I decided to go visit and take Ian and Braden with me. We did a bunch of things like when I was a little kid. Like:

Doing silly things with cousins,

Celebrating birthdays with family, (Griffin's birthday was Sunday and of course Kayda thought she needed to help blow out the candles.)

Enjoy hugs,

Ride on the tractor,

Play in the "cave",

Act like the "Pirates of Penzance",

Walk to the dam (or the darn in Hunt vocab)(and maybe someday I will add the extended version to that trip: Kenna falling in the ditch, Ian walking on the train tracks when a train was coming, and a near miss from a bull j/k),

See that dad is reading again,

Have fun with mom and dad,

Play in the dirt,

and have a fire to roast marshmellows.
(and I couldn't help but add this picture of my cute baby, that smiled even though it was getting cold and everyone else was having the fun).

Date Night and Shopping

Jaden and I finally went on a date all by ourselves!! Jaden won Suns tickets at work so we decided to go to the game. It was a fun game (but an even better buffet) for free!

While we were watching the game a girl sat down that looked familiar.
Sad that I even figured it out. It was one of the girls that was on the Bachelor. I really don't watch that show but I did watch the last two episodes. So what do I do?? I take a picture with a reality tv star. (lame- I know)* pictured below is her in the show

While we were in the valley we decided to get some errands done and do some shopping (or wishing). Kayda was getting bored while we were shopping in a home store.

Obviously she was more content going shopping with candy and trying on "glass slippers."

So the moral of the story: Always take a camera along so you can blog the random, the mundane, and the fun of a trip.

So Sunday morning I was getting ready to sit and enjoy General Conference. But before I could completely settle down, I was in the bathroom when Ally knocked and let me know that Kayda just brought her an open bottle of Motrin. So I investigated: I saw the open "child proof" cap off of the bottle, I called Jaden to see how much was in there when he last gave it to Kayda, asked Kayda if she drank some (the answer being yes). So then I proceed to call Poison Control. I went through all their questioning to find out that she was probably okay. After the lady explained what the possible side effects may be, she said," and try to limit her activity." I thought,"Did I not just tell her that she was 2?!" and laughed that at that moment Kayda was running around the room like a chicken with it's head cut off.

When I finally sat down I was able to catch President Monson's talk and he said it best,"If you are still in the process of raising children beware that -the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will, to your surprise, will miss them profoundly."

(some pictures from the weekend)

I really do enjoy this time but sometimes it is good to have the reminder.
