3rd Time is a Charm

It is fun now that Kayda is getting big enough to get Christmas. I taught her how to sing Santa Claus is coming to Town. Well it started out with her singing,"Santa Claus is coming to my house" and then it went to,"Santa Claus is coming tonight" and finally to,"Santa Claus is coming to town." The other day when we drove down to the valley I asked her what she was doing and she said that she was writing a letter to santa. I asked her what it said and she started out saying,"Dear Santa..."(I couldn't hear the rest-except I did hear the word Barbie)

I keep finding "letters to Santa" everywhere. Ilove it!

Photo Session No.2

On Christmas Sunday we were all dressed up so of course I thought we needed some pictures of the occasion. Maria wanted some family pictures taken also so we had one big photo shoot.
The following picture pretty much sums up the most of the pictures. Kayda making faces, Kolby drooling and Jaden and I trying to keep up the smiles in case there was a good shot.
Kayda trying to get out some energy.
The girls' picture together: (are you getting how it all went yet?)
The boys:

The winner- as good as it gets:

Photo Session No. 1

This year I tried to get a photographer to take our pictures but she ended up double booking so we were going to do the norm and have Katie take some pictures. It turned out that there was snow in Pine so we went with Plan C and had my sister Maria take our picture. It was snowing while we were taking pictures.

Kayda couldn't wait any longer and started to play with the snow during the photoshoot.

Maria brought her girls so they joined in the fun.

Maria tried to get them all rounded up in the car.

They finally thought they could go once all of their hands were frozen.
The final pick:

Putting up the Tree

Jaden is the master of putting up the tree. He has to have three different kinds of lights on it.

The finished product...
well, not yet. Kayda had to add a few more decorations to the tree.

Temple Lights

I was going to do a post of Christmas Past and Present but I never got around to digging out pictures to scan them. About six years ago me and my friend Beth took pictures from Provo to Salt Lake with whatever Christmas items we could find including the temple lights. So this year when I read her blog that they were going to the temple lights the same night as us I knew that we need to take a few pictures for old times sake. ( and no we did not plan to be matchy)

I love the temple lights and feeling of the true meaning of Christmas that is felt there.

Matchy, Matchy

First off, as you can tell it was hard to get two kids on the same page as far as taking pictures. (well the 2 year old was have way too much fun to just have a normal smile) But the other day while we were at good 'ol Wal-mart, we actually found matching pjs in both Kayda's and Kolby's size. Here is how the conversation went:
Me: Yeah!! They can have matchy pjs. I'm so happy!
Jaden:(rolling eyes) You're weird.
Kayda: NO!! She's Happy!!

Story Time

On Wednesday after dance class me and Kayda usually head to the library for story time. But lucky for Kayda during December they have an extra story time on Friday for reindeer games, Christmas crafts, and holiday stories. A parade was involved with the kids singing "jingle bells" so I get to hear it "all the way, Hey!" home.

Okay Beware! I am going to try to make up for lost time and blog everyday (at least that is the plan) until I have all of the posts done that I want done. So first off Thanksgiving! Since no one was deciding what they wanted to do for Thanksgiving and me and Jaden decided we would do it at our house. We had been working on our back room but obviously never finished it- so we had Thanksgiving in "kayda's room". It was the first time I had ever made turkey (scary). And Maria's veggie platter was fancier than mine so I might be demoted next time- cranberry sauce in a can maybe?? Anyway my plan was to have fun whatever happend and I did!

I am so thankful for many things:
My family, Friends, Low maintenance baby, A two year old that knows how to make me laugh,
A husby that loves me, A home (character and all), Being able to stay home with my kiddos,
The gospel , and having the opportunity to enjoy each day and the surprises that come with it.

Copy Cat (or kit)

I have been depressed about my lack of creativity But I am so thankful for others for inspiring me! Here are my current top 3 that I love to copy:

1.) Bakerella- here is where to find herhttp://bakerella.blogspot.com/

I have made her cupcake pops a couple times. Obviously the top picture is of hers and the second one of mine. I just need a little practice- right? Oh and I made her recipe for pumpkin pecan chocolate chunk cookies with maple frosting. Yum! This lady is amazing!

2. Pottery Barn- Okay if you go online the headbands were sold out so you can't see them on their website but I have a picture that I saved. I just like mine better because they weren't made in China. Plus I think I have a cuter model- maybe not as cooperative but cuter.

3. Emily- She was one of my friends from AJ. She is one of the most talented and creative people that I have met. She makes incredible dolls - all hand sewn! We are lucky to have a couple of things she has made in our house. Check out her work : http://www.auntieemdolls.com/ But she is the one that told me how to make cute acorn dolls.

More than You want To Know

Before we went on vacation my friend Kari tagged me and when I got back my friend Kristal tagged me. So here are 2 different tags and as such I am altering the rules a bit: .

Tag 1-
This one was to name six quirks about yourself-

quirk #1- I always cut off the Box Tops and save them. It's just a habit. Jaden thinks it is funny and according to him I never do anything with them, but I do give them to my mom or Celia depending who I see first and remember to give them to them.

quirk #2- If I ever get the chance to take a nap I always try to find the sunniest part of the house to take the nap. My family used to say I was a lizard because I have always done this. And thank goodness that my bed is usually the sunniest room in this house!

quirk #3-I hate calling people (especially if I don't know them well) so if I can talk to them in person, email, or get Jaden to call then I always do that first. I have tried to work on it but I am still bad. (sorry family and friends- you all know that I am a bad caller!)

quirk #4- I ALWAYS try to take the orange peel off in one try. We used to do this when I was little and still have to do it every time I peel one.

quirk #5- I have songs in my head all the time. I almost had a title of a song or line of a song for the titles of all my posts but I thought that it might be a little crazy.

quirk #6- I have some weird reflexes. If someone puts their hand, arm, whatever in my face I lick it and if someone tries to grab my leg I slap their hand. Both have created akward moments in my life but they were developed as a survival skills against teasing siblings.

We had never taken Kayda 0n any vacation other that visiting her grandparents or relatives so we decided it was time to change that (and while she is still free). We had plans to go to Disneyland but they fell through and some of our friends said that they wanted to go to Sea World so we decided to go!

Here the guys are figuring out what to go do and see first.

Kayda looking at the star fishes.

Helping her touch them.

Kayda putting her hands together and chanting "Shamu, Shamu" with the crowd to get him to splash the water.

Ready for the Sesame Street 4-D show.

Kolby enjoying the ride in the stroller.

Kayda giving hugs to Cookie Monster.
One of the very first things she said the next day was,"Cookie Monster loves me!"

Posing with Grover

Taking Kayda on the rides.

Our friends wanted to go to the Meet Elmo breakfast and we were undecided so when they went to get tickets and the people wanted to fill up the empty spaces so they gave us a discount!! It turned out to be one of the kids' favorite things.

Looking at the whales.

Kayda and Parker

Being impressed by the dolphin show

Notice that the lady in the picture is not me. After the show we told Kayda she needed to hold someone's hand. I offered mine but she refused and continued to grab a strangers hand. Thank goodness she was nice and thought it was funny.

Kayda eating the dog food. She told me after I took the picture,"I ate it ALL gone!"

Kolby keeping cozy.

Posing during her playing.

Finishing out the second day on the rides.

The kids playing on the bed at night.

Enjoying the splashing waves.

Playing in the water.

Pretend surfing in the sand.

So our original plan was to visit Jaden's brother in California but he ended up having to do a long haul trip so we wouldn't even see him if we went to visit . Since Jaden had the whole week off we decided to drive to Utah and spend a couple days with his family.

Kayda playing Rock Band with uncle Brian

Stopping and giving granda hugs on the way home.
Even though we had fun and actually had minimal outbursts(by the 2 year old) we are glad that we are home!!
*Funny Story: Since our decision to go to Utah was very last minute no one in his family knew we were coming . Almost to Las Vegas we let his dad in on the secret. So when we showed up at 3 am Jaden's mom freaked out when she heard the basement door open and some rustling in the kitchen. So she dropped to ground and started to call for help. The person on the line asked,"City and state please." She whispered "Santaquin, Utah." They didn't hear her so she whispered again,"Santaquin, Utah." That is when she realized she dialed 411 and not 911.
